# ttyd

`ttyd` exposes a terminal over HTTP/WebSocket. If it is unauthenticated, browsing to the service can give an interactive shell directly in the browser.

## Discovery

```bash
nmap -sC -sV TARGET -p 8000
# 8000/tcp open  http  ttyd 1.7.3
# http-title: ttyd - Terminal
# http-server-header: ttyd/1.7.3
```

Browse to:

```
http://TARGET:8000/
```

## What To Check

After landing in the browser shell:

```bash
id
pwd
hostname
ss -antpu
ps -elf --forest
ls -la /opt
```

Check how `ttyd` was launched. Supervisor configs often disclose the working directory, user context, and other local services:

```bash
cat /etc/supervisor/supervisord.conf
ls -la /etc/supervisor/conf.d/
cat /etc/supervisor/conf.d/*.conf
```

Example:

```ini
[program:ttyd]
user=user
command=ttyd -p 8000 -w /home/user/ -W bash
```

`-W` allows clients to write to the terminal. If exposed without authentication, treat it as shell access.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://book.ice-wzl.xyz/things-i-have-pwnd-before/ttyd.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
